About the piece:
We sourced the Ash logs locally from a farm in Ashbourne and have had them carefully stashed away from couple of years drying out. I wanted a range of natural looking dishes and bowls. These have a natural bark detail and all the natural checks, marks and dings.
Your dish is perfect for jewellery, loose change, keys, trinkets and treasures or just left as it is.
I’ve used wax oil and a natural wood wax to finish the piece which highlights the natural grain patterns, adds a golden colouring and the was adds a subtle sheen. This helps to protect the wood and keeps it looking it’s best for longer.
Keeping it looking good:
- This dish is designed as a decorative piece so isn’t suitable for food or liquids. Wrapped sweets and nuts in the shell look great in the dishes
- Don’t submerge in water and please…. wood. does. not. go. in. the. dishwasher!
- Wipe clean, reapply wood wax to restore lustre
- Keep away from sources of direct heat (radiators, open flame, stoves and fire places), direct sunlight and moisture (steamy bathrooms, sinks). Over time the direct sun can bleach the wood and alter the colourings. Changes in temperate and being places too near a heat source can cause the wood the crack.

We attend artisan markets and craft fairs across Staffordshire and Derbyshire where you can shop with us face to face and chat about our processes and each piece. If you can’t make it out to see us you can pop the kettle on and shop from the comfort of your own home.
This also means that as most of our pieces are one of a kind and beautifully unique once they are gone, they are gone!
